Mount Isa to Alice Springs…

We have driven for approximately 14 hours in total and we’re now chilling out in the hostel.

After only half an hour in the car, we were both screaming after a giant hawk/eagle/vulture nearly flew into our windscreen. Great start to the road trip that would have been! The roads just go on and on for miles and miles without anything interesting to see. Luckily we have Becky’s i-pod to keep us entertained. However, out of nowhere we came across ‘The Devil’s Marbles’. A rather strange formation of rocks…

We experienced our first night in the middle of nowhere! We stopped off at a rest stop at Taylor Hills, Northern Territory (give it a google!). Luckily it was pretty uneventful, minus Lydia spitting the ‘froth’ from brushing her teeth all over herself as a large gust of wind struck at the wrong moment and Becky managing to get her feet dirty that much we’ve almost ran out of baby wipes.

We tested out our ‘bedroom’ in the car, turns out it wasn’t as comfy as it looked. We did see some stunning sunset and sunrise views though, which if we’d been less tired there may have been photos of. Next sleep at a rest stop, we’ll try and grab some photos of it.

So eventually we arrived in Alice Springs, spotted the sign and saw it as a photo opportunity…

Off on the Rock Tour tomorrow, expect a massive blog post after our tour when we arrive back!

Peace and Love,
Lyds & Bex
